Yard Waste Removal and Brush Hauling in Chattanooga, TN

Yard Waste Removal · Chattanooga, TN

Brush piles, limbs and storm debris loaded and hauled off

Yard waste removal gets the pile out of your yard and off the property. Three Crosses Land Services loads brush, cut limbs and storm debris onto the dump trailer. You point at what goes and we do the lifting. Estimates are free, and the number is set before we load.

Most yard waste piles come from a job that is already done. A tree came down, a fence line got cut back, or a storm broke limbs across the yard. Moving that pile takes a trailer and somewhere to dump it. That is the part we handle.

We cover the Chattanooga area out about 40 miles, into Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. That takes in Hixson, Soddy-Daisy, Ooltewah, Signal Mountain, Cleveland, Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe. Three Crosses Land Services is a veteran-owned family business based just north of Chattanooga. If the growth is still standing, brush clearing comes first and the hauling follows.

What yard waste do we haul?

Brush piles are the most common load. Cut limbs, branches, hedge trimmings, storm blowdown and leftover piles from clearing work all go on the trailer. Small trees and saplings count too, and we cut them up on site so they fit. Bagged leaves and grass clippings ride along with a load.

We do the loading, so the pile can stay where it is. There is no need to drag it to the curb or cut it to a set length first. If limbs are too long for the trailer, we cut them down on the spot. Then we rake the ground before we pull out.

Household junk is a different job and belongs on our junk and debris removal page. Garage cleanouts, appliances, furniture and construction scrap go out that way. Small trees standing in the open fall under small tree and shrub removal. Once the wood is on the ground, we load it.

What if the city will not take your brush pile?

The city program leaves a lot of piles out. Chattanooga collects brush at the curb for city residents only. Land clearing debris is not collected, and contractors who do land clearing and businesses are not eligible. Piles have size limits, and each of four areas gets one collection week a month.

For a city resident, the rules are specific. Wood must be natural, no longer than 8 feet and no thicker than 18 inches. The city also runs a wood recycling center that takes raw wood, brush and leaves. Crews there do not unload, so emptying the truck or trailer is on you.

Outside Chattanooga, what is available changes town to town. Soddy-Daisy allows two brush pickups a year per address, with limbs cut to 8 feet and 4 inches. Hamilton County recycling centers take household recyclables, electronics and tires, not brush or limbs. Anywhere the pile runs past the local limit, it sits until someone loads it.

Hamilton County allows open burning from October 1 through April 30. The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau issues the permit. From May 1 through September 30, burning is closed countywide. Stumps and treated wood can never be burned, so hauling works year round. Our Hamilton County burn permit guide lays out the permit fees, the dates and what can burn.

What moves the price on a yard waste haul?

Size comes first. The number of trailer loads it takes sets most of the price on a yard waste removal job. After that comes access, meaning how close we can park the trailer to the pile. Long carries, soft ground, backyard gates and tight driveways all add time to the load.

Two more pieces matter. Limbs that need cutting to fit take longer than a pile already cut short. Disposal sites charge by the ton, and green brush and wet leaves run heavy for their size. Drive time counts too, since a pile in Trenton is a longer run than one in Hixson.

Send photos when you call, because a picture sizes a pile faster than a description does. We come look, price the job, and the estimate is free. We are licensed and insured, and you have the number before anything gets loaded. Call or text (423) 260-5675, or send the details through our contact page.

FAQ

Yard Waste Removal Questions, Answered

Common questions about yard waste removal across Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (423) 260-5675

What is the cheapest way to get rid of yard waste?
If you live inside Chattanooga city limits, the city collects brush at the curb. You stack the pile at the street and wait for your area collection week. City residents can also haul raw wood, brush and leaves to the city wood recycling center at no charge. When the pile is big or the wait is long, a hauler is faster.
Where can I take bagged yard waste around Chattanooga?
The city wood recycling center takes brush and leaves from homes, contractors and self-haulers. City residents drop off at no charge, while businesses and people outside the city pay by the ton. The city refuse collection centers do not take brush and leaves at all. Hamilton County recycling centers handle household recyclables and tires.
Will my garbage service pick up yard waste?
It depends on where you live. Chattanooga collects bagged leaves and grass clippings separately from brush. Small amounts of bagged leaves and clippings can go in your garbage cart. Soddy-Daisy treats bagged leaves as a separate pickup with a yearly limit. Outside city limits, check with whoever hauls your trash before you stack a pile.
Can I burn brush in Hamilton County right now?
Only between October 1 and April 30, and only with a permit. The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau issues that permit. From May 1 through September 30, open burning is closed across the county. Permits cover clean natural wood and vegetation, and the material has to come from that address. Stumps and treated wood are never allowed.
Do you clean up storm damage and downed limbs?
Yes, in the open parts of a property. Broken limbs on the ground and blowdown across a yard get cut up and hauled. A small tree that came over in the open counts too. Anything on a roof, against a house, or near a power line is not our lane. That work goes to a tree service or the utility company.
Do you haul the brush your own clearing work leaves behind?
Yes. When we cut a fence line or open a lot, the piles can leave on the trailer the same visit. Some jobs get mulched in place instead, which leaves chips on the ground and nothing to haul. Tell us which you want when we come look, and the estimate covers the hauling.
Do you take leftover piles from a tree service?
Yes. A tree crew often takes the tree down and leaves the wood stacked in the yard. That pile is a normal load for us. We cut what is too long to fit and load the rest. Stumps are a different job, and stump grinding takes those below grade.
Do I need to be home when you pick up?
Not always. If the pile is in the open and we agreed on what goes, you can be away. For a pile mixed in with things that stay, it helps to have someone on site.
